If you’ve read my Darth Maul review, you know that I would love to rip the 6” figures because I don’t want this line to exist.  Unfortunately for me, this is an outstanding figure.  I can tell you the negatives right off the bat.  The hip movement isn’t as effortless as it is on the Maul figure.  I would suspect this is due to flight straps restricting the movement, but even when I moved them out of the way, they hips didn’t articulate freely.  That’s not to say it can’t be achieved. It just takes a little patience.  Also, in order to get the goggle portion of the helmet to cover Luke’s eyes, you have to push the helmet so far down in the front that it exposes his mullet in the back.

After that, it’s hard to fault this figure.  As with the Maul, the posing options are off the charts.  Because I have no interest in this line, I haven’t been paying attention to the reveals.  The working lightsaber clip actually took me by surprise and I let out an audible “no way”.  It’s a small inclusion, but neat nonetheless.  The double jointed knees and rocker ankles allow you to strike any stance you can conceive and the figure balances well. In the movies, Luke never engaged in any lightsaber battles while donning the X-Wing flight suit, but you can stage him in imaginary battles.  He will go nicely with the imaginary 6” Darth Vader which hasn’t been announced as of the time of this article.  Hasbro likes to overplay their hand like that.  Hold back on an A-list figure until the line stagnates at retail as people start to lose interest because, after a while, no one wants second tier figures that can’t interact with one of the most important characters in the Saga.  Good plan.  Sorry for the digression, but if Hasbro is going to switch to a scale that exactly no one was clamoring for, at least they could give us a Darth Vader in the first three waves.

I hope the pictures speak for themselves.  Whether aiming the blaster or preparing for a saber flourish, this figure strikes natural poses.  You will definitely be able to display this figure in a pose that is eye catching.  9 out of 10.
