So here is one of those handful of figures from a film other than the one represented by the name/art on the cardback packaging.  Here we have Rey (Jakku) from The Force Awakens packaged in the Rogue One line look.

When it comes to Rey, it seems like Hasbro is trying to do its best to replicate its past efforts in the collector (née main) line by issuing multiple figures to capture minute wardrobe changes.  This, as opposed to making an attempt at a definitive version with enough accessories to do the job.  As you can see from the comparison image in the gallery, we have Rey in her Jakku scavenger outfit 3 different ways in the 5POA line.  Using these three figures, you can have Rey with or without gloves, and you can have Rey with her full head wrap and goggles, with a partial head wrap and goggles on top of her head, or no head wrap or goggles.  Note that the Rey with the full wrap that comes with the speeder has a strange neck peg, so swapping heads can be a bit tricky there.

These are all fine representations that cover the differences we see on screen, but it would be preferable if these accessories were available with one figure, as they are so minor.  The Walmart Black Series version has 2 of these 3 head variations, which is cool, but only has gloved hands.  This, of course, is really nothing new to long time collectors, who have been consistently frustrated with main characters that must be purchased repeatedly in order to achieve slight changes in appearance.  Then again, isn’t it great we live in a world where Hasbro actually makes the effort to recognize the outfit a character wore on screen for 3 seconds?  What a country!

The figure, for the most part, is standard 5POA fare.  Rey stands without falling over, she has a nice basic sculpt (most of which is a kit ash or slight repaint), and she interacts with her accessories pretty well (typical lack of THWG, notwithstanding).  The face that is exposed from the headwrap may be the closest thing we have in similarity to Daisy Ridley in this scale, but it’s not going to blow you away.  The skin tone is a bit pinkish to me, but statements such as this must always come with the standard disclaimer that I have issues seeing color properly.

One interesting thing of note, the weird nonsense accessory included with the figure appears to be inspired by Rey’s speeder.  It’s a silly accessory, but kind of a cute design, nonetheless.

So overall, it does its job, the silly accessory was clever, and it gives us a slightly different Rey that was previously not available.  Nothing groundbreaking here.  It gets a standard 4.  Someone please remind Hasbro that the efforts are appreciated, but are misplaced in the 5POA line.  Casual buyers don’t care much about 3 different Reys with goggles up, goggles on, and goggles off.  But hardcore collectors do.  Mmmkay?
