While the super-articulated line got totally hosed by Hasbro on the Rogue One front, they did a somewhat decent job covering characters in the 5POA line.  In this two-pack you get the partisan mercenary Moroff paired up with a Scarif shoretrooper squad leader.  Moroff was originally designed to be part of the Rogue One team on Scarif, but was instead put with Saw Guerra’s resistance fighters on Jedha.  This switch was obviously made after Hasbro had manufactured and shipped this two-pack, so the final product ends up having a pairing that makes no sense.

So what do we get for our trouble?  You get a trooper that has been somewhat difficult to find at retail in any variant at this scale.  The Walmart super-articulated basic figure was darn near impossible to find, although reports are coming in that some inventory is pushing through the chain’s hateful logistics pipeline and onto shelves - almost a year later.  Even the 5POA basic single-carded version was tricky to find.  They were also generally not found in large numbers at brick and mortar.  So this has likely been your best chance to own the character.  It does it’s 5POA job well, although the paint applications are a bit sloppy around the helmet “face” and in other parts of the figure.  The squad leader designation is indicated by a light blue color across the shoulders and upper chest, and the trooper also sports a kama.  It’s certainly not a bad figure, but as we’ve said in the past, troopers definitely suffer when they aren’t super-articulated.  In the comparison shot with the Walmart figure, you can see the paint and sculpt details are far superior to this version, and the articulation renders the 5POA version nearly obsolete.  In the image, the SA version seems to be wondering how he could possibly be taking orders from this 5POA schmuck.  You’d want this half of the pack mostly because the trooper is tough to find, and if you want this particular rank variant.

The real reason you’re buying the pack is for Moroff.  Although his screen time was trimmed significantly from what was originally planned, he’s still a neat design.  He’s obviously reminiscent of a scrawny wampa, with a breath mask.  He’s a pretty neat figure who does all of his jobs very well.  He stands sturdily, and can even handle a slight pose simulating leg movement - also known as walking.  The figure has a lot of personality, and interacts with his accessories extremely well.  He comes with a film accurate rucksack and a large weapon.  He also comes with an off-screen contraption, which he can wear nicely, hold properly, and not fall over.  Overall, it’s executed very well, in either load-out version.

The downside is the weird “dirt” paint, which make is feet look like he finished a sloppy dinner, and then dropped the leftovers on the floor and walked through it.  The fur variation colors could have been executed much better.  Although Moroff must be pretty strong, it would seem that he would be more at ease with a two handed grip on that BFG he has.  It looks silly extended from one outstretched arm.  And finally, it would be a stretch to call him 5POA.  While technically accurate, the head barely moves, as is the case with many figures that have long hair or appendages that drape past the neck.

All in all, it’s a decent pack.  Moroff is pretty cool, the trooper is meh, but one of the only practical options for most people to build their Scarif Imperial garrison.

A point above baseline because Moroff is huge and has lots of accessories.
