This figure is titled “Eadu”.  It’s not a good thing, because it brings to light the horrendous Jyn Erso (Eadu) figure. So does this figure prop up the average of those that represent this miserable planet?  Can Cassian Andor save Eadu figures from continued oppression under the iron fist of the dreaded “0” ranking?

So the sculpt is pretty good.  There are some nice textures going on with the coat,  including the puffy pants and the fur-lined hood.  The face sculpt is okay, nothing special, with no particular likeness to Diego Luna.  Hasbro definitely needs to work on their beard painting techniques.  Facial hair cultivation is a revered art form, and Hasbro has little or no respect.  The hat is a nicely sculpted item, and the entire ensemble is very reminiscent of Han’s Hoth outfit.  The real issues lie with the paint.  There are lot of little doodads on the uniform, but all over the paint is weak.  Lots of overspray, bleeding edges, and random stray marks.  It really takes the figure down from what could have been a nice looking figure.

Cassian has a pistol that fits snugly in both the holster and his hand.  He also comes with a zip line, which is similar in concept to the one that comes with Galen Erso.  It’s molded differently - a little bulkier and less elegant - but essentially it performs the same, which is to say, pretty well.  If you can find places to support the hooks on either end, it’s a neat little toy.  Again, it’s a Hasbro off-screen creation, so I can do without it, but it certainly doesn’t hurt the figure, and can provide at least 15-20 seconds of marginal fun before moving on.

This figure is labeled as it should be from the Eadu infiltration scene, but in order to make it more authentic, Cassian should have come with his sniper rifle with which he targets Galen Erso (probably because he has a better zip line.)  It also would have been cool if there was a glossy sheen added to the uniform, as it was raining heavily on Eadu.  Additionally, he should have matted and soaking wet hair, but you can’t see this because of the hat.  Now that hat, for what it is, is decent looking, but not only do I not think he wore the hat on Eadu, I don’t think he ever wore the hat on screen.  I could be wrong, so please let me know.  Particularly frustrating, the hat is a separately molded piece from the head, but it’s still glued on, as was Jyn Erso (Eadu)‘s hat.  Apparently, the weather is so bad on that planet, everybody needs to glue their hats down.

The figure, if it had a removable hat (or even none at all) would probably be better labeled as Cassian Andor (Jedha), but then they would have needed to include a backpack.  So ditch the permanent hat and Hasbro had options:  add a rifle and gloss the uniform for wetness, or add a backpack and name it “Jedha.”  Either way, they could have hit the mark.

It’s a good sculpt, but sloppy paint hurts the figure, as does a frustrating choice of accessories.  At least this figure stands on its own, JYN!
