Now that Rebels is over, the figures we look at will be a reminder of that time there was a weekly animated Star Wars series on TV.  Remember that?  Good times, good times.  In a mind-bending twist, this review will take a look at figures based on characters from the series premiere, Spark of Rebellion.

The first figures we’ll look at since the conclusion of the series are the Wookiee duo of Wollffwarro and Wookiee Warrior.  In the season premiere, which has the Spectres crossing paths with Ezra Bridger for the first time, the team encounters a transport that is moving Wookiee slaves to Kessel.  The Spectres plus an initially reluctant Ezra, execute a plan to save the Wookiees.  While successful, Kanan was forced to reveal his status as a Jedi, which ultimately brings the Empire down hard on the team for the remainder of the run of the show.  After being rescued, the Wookiees, led by Wollffwarro, let the Spectres know that if they are ever needed, they’ll be there to help.  While the Wookiees do not reappear at any point on screen, Wullffwarro and his son Kitwarr did help the Ghost crew on a mission that was described in a magazine supplement.

As the for the figures, they might seem to be pretty neat looking at first glance.  They are faithful to the animated styling of the show.  They appear to be rather large, and they came in a two-pack that was initially retailing for $9.99, which was a decent value, even they are 5POA figures.  Of course, today, this pack would retail for $14.99, so screw that noise.  Anyway, the figures are simply painted, and, while screen accurate, unfortunately come with no weapons or accessories.  Also, for all intents an purposes, the figures are really 4POA, because the heads don’t move, even though they are separate pieces.

The figures are put to shame, as should be the case, when matched up against the very many variations of Wookiees that have been released over the years, particularly since their appearance at the Battle of Kashyyyk in Revenge of the Sith.  As you can see by the group shot, these figures are dwarfed by the awesomeness of the super-articulated versions.  They definitely don’t belong in that group shot, and this actually highlights why I dislike the animated styling.

While it’s a decent value for two figures, the lack of any accessories, and the lack of neck movement hurts these figures.  I’m going to land on the baseline 3 for animated 5POA figures, because of the value.  But in reality, there’s not much to see here.  They’re a nice addition to the Rebels line look, but that’s not really saying a whole lot when it comes to the underwhelming figure assortment for the line.  Get a couple of ROTS Wookiee Warriors, or a Tarrful or Merumeru instead.

Then, go buy a sail barge.
