Here’s a figure that might qualify as the worst one in the TFA line.  I haven’t gotten through them all yet, but I’d be hard pressed to find a crappier effort from Hasbro.  Pretty much everything about this figure was an attempt by Hasbro to go back to 1995, but they did it a step worse.  If you want to time travel, spend a little quality time with this figure.

Poe is one of the three main characters of the new generation of Star Wars heroes.  Hasbro found a way to completely ruin a figure that should have received a little TLC, even though it’s in the budget line.  The sculpt is nearly identical to the Poe that came with the X-Wing.  The body sculpt isn’t terrible in and of itself, it’s just a little…melty. That’s the best way I can describe it.  It looks like they had a more detailed version, but all the folds and texture melted like heated wax.  There was at least some effort put into the sculpt, as the air hose and chest box are separate pieces (glued to the figure), and there is a separately sculpted pistol holster - which is actually removable leaving a nice peg hold in Poe’s right hip.  In a way, this is cool, because then it can match the big hole right square in the middle of his spine, which was put there to accommodate the inane piece of garbage build a weapon piece.  Again, it’s a main character, and Hasbro ruined the aesthetic (whatever there was) by having a huge hole in his back. Boooo!

Then we get to the head.  The abomination is the worst part of any TFA figure.  The sculpted on helmet is straight out of 1995, except worse, due to the idiot visor.  At least in 1995 hasbro had the decency to just drop the visors for the sculpted on helmets altogether.  This is better than the bright yellow nonsense.  Again, I say this is way worse on Poe, because he deserved better than this, while I can forgive the same helmet type on other background pilots, like Snap Wexley and Ello Asty.  To make matters worse, the freakin’ pack in Poe that comes with the X-Wing has a perfectly acceptable removable helmet with clear visor.  Since when is the pack-in figure better than the standalone figure?  I think Hasbro must have had a factory error here.  Someone must have switched all the Poes between factories in Vietnam and China as a joke. Ha ha!  Good one!

In the comparison shot, you see how the X-Wing poe is so confused by the helmet design of this figure, that his eyeball practically popped out of the socket.  And the Black Series version seems to be pointing the part of his anatomy that best describes this figure.  Even other Poe’s hate this Poe.

So the figure gets hammered for the helmet/head sculpt, the sloppy paint, the back hole, and the simple fact that it is worse than the pack-in analog.  The only thing saving it from a complete 1995 flashback are the separately sculpted uniform pieces, which at least gives it a little more of a modern touch.  Nevertheless, screw this figure
