Lately I’ve been lamenting the loss of Toys R Us and the many multi-packs they would help bring to market in the 3.75” scale, but lest we not forget, K-Mart would often toss their hat into that ring.  Toys R Us, despite being frequented by armies of kids, was often relatively well organized.  K-Mart, on the other hand, looked like each store suffered periodic loss of gravity and the contents would get tossed around like a snow globe.  If you were looking for a given K-Mart exclusive, simply navigate around the woman wearing a swimsuit in public, go past the folding lawn furniture, turn down the action figure aisle, watch out for the wad of chewing gum on the shelf, move the half empty Slurpee out of the way, and Bob’s your uncle.

Of course, K-Mart is still in business, but their days of getting manufacturer exclusives are long over.  So they are not dead, but they’re dead to us.  The effective loss of K-Mart is another brutal blow to bolstering the 3.75” product offerings.  K-Mart was the home of five Vintage Collection multi-packs and two vehicles.  Their fall from grace is nearly on par with the Toys R Us bankruptcy in terms of the negative impact on the hobby.  The only upside is that we no longer have to go to K-Mart.

This particular set gives us two prominent on-screen Ewoks that probably never would have seen the light of day otherwise.  The Tarzan swinging pair of Wunka and Widdle Warrick helped hijack the AT-ST with Chewbacca to turn the tide in the Battle of Endor ground war.  Both figures use the body of the Graak figure from the TAC 30-43 Romba & Graak 2-pack.

Wunka

For me, this is the star of the set.  It’s hard to differentiate many of the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi.  Aside form their cowls and variations in their fur, they basically look the same.  After the hijackers blow up an enemy AT-ST, Wunka’s ear to ear grin makes him stand out from his fellow Ewoks.  Hasbro sculpted a new head to capture this, and it works.  It’s hard to pack a lot of articulation into short figures, so the limited articulation of the figure can be excused.  This figure is a 7 out of 10.

Widdle Warrick

Unlike Wunka, the Widdle Warrick figure did not get a new head sculpt.  Instead the head from the Legacy Collection Leektar figure was reused. The slightly toothy grin works perfectly for the character, so this is fine. As with Wunka, the lack of articulation is excused due to the figure’s size. It does its job.  7 out of 10.
