It’s no secret we’re not fans of the 6” line.  Not because of any problem with the figures themselves, but because it seems the line was meant to replace the classic 3.75” which we have loved since childhood.  I am now the owner of three 6” figures.  The first in my collection is the 40th Anniversary Jawa.  I haven’t taken it out of the package yet, but I was highly disappointed that it did not come with a Giants helmet.  Apparently Hasbro is not aware of Bantha Skull’s inside joke, so I’ll have to accept it for what it is.  I’ve always liked jawas, and have one as my avatar across various platforms, including Disqus.  The second figure in my collection is the 501st Clone Trooper, which I got loose from eBay.  This was a necessary acquisition due to my 501st focus collection.  I’ve been counting the unique items in my focus collection on our Instagram account.  As of this writing, I’ve posted images of 95 unique items.  So that naturally led me to the third 6” item in my inventory, this Black Series HASCON Exclusive Clone Captain Rex.

Since I have a grand total of 3 figures in my collection, only 2 of which are currently loose, I feel I am not able to give a full and fair review.  So I’ll be relatively brief from here on out.

The figure looks outstanding. It has 20 points of articulation, by my count.  Not sure how common it is in the line, but in addition to the standard 14POA of a super-articulated 3.75” figure, this Rex has “double-jointed” knees and elbows, as well as swivel biceps.  These 6 points allow for a nice bit of additional posability, without ruining the aesthetic of the figure.  The paint deco is highly detailed, especially the helmet.  There is a nice bit of dirt and weathering wash on the figure - you can see how he differs from the more clean white on the 501st Clone Trooper pictured above.  Rex comes with 2 pistols, a blaster, and a rifle.  The kama is made from from a light material that does not impede the joints.  The helmet is removeable revealing an outstanding Temuera Morrison likeness.

I have a few gripes.  Probably due to the pauldron, Rex’s chin peeks out from under the helmet.  This was something we experienced numerous times with main line clones, and one of the solutions was to spin the head 180 degrees so it was facing backwards, and then put the helmet back on.  In the case of this figure, it is very hard to put the helmet over Rex’s backwards-facing head, and I was afraid this would damage the face paint.  While I’m sure Rex appreciates that he won’t be permanently displayed on my shelf in a Linda Blair pose, the chin is a bit annoying.  The thigh articulation is not that great, nor are the ankles.  This restricts posability of the legs, despite the “double jointed” knees.  Finally, the visor may or may not rotate.  Mine was pretty tight, so I was afraid it would break if I tried to lower it to eye level, so I left it alone.

This figure is a a great looking addition to my 501st display, and I am happy to have it.  However, it seems unfortunate that it serves the same purpose as as some of the better 5POA 3.75” figure.  It’s a nice display piece.  I assume most 6” collectors would be thrilled about this figure.

No grade given.
