In 2008, Hasbro gave us an Ugnuaght figure, with the promise that a second “variant” would follow.  Sure enough, that materialized a year later as The Legacy Collection (red) BD28 Ugnaught.  We’ve already reviewed that figure, but both of these go hand in hand.  They are different enough to warrant being called separate figures, as I prefer to do rather than considering this a true running change.  These figures are a huge step forward when compared to their POTF2 counterparts, as you can see in the group shot above.  Those earlier figures were poorly articulated, although the sculpts might still be worthy of “deep background” display to flesh out your Cloud City displays.  I feel they still serve this purpose, so they’re not completely obsolete.

This is the first of the 2 TLC Ugnaught releases.  He’s got a dark blue outfit, instead of the gray of the second release.  He’s also got a skirt.  His headsculpt is unique, and is highly detailed.  The paint is a little bit sloppy, but still decent enough.  He’s got a separately sculpted bib and skirt, which help make this look almost like a completely different sculpt from the other release.  The figure can be posed well with the upper body, although the lack of ankles make any real attempt at something action-oriented to be folly.

Included is the same tool box / lunch box and control panel that were also packed with the second version. I feel this was a bit of a miss by Hasbro.  Not sure exactly what else could have been done, but at least a different looking control panel, or some other kind of tool or accessory could have been included.  Nevertheless, I do like the control panel, so it’s not a big deal that we got it twice.

It’s a neat little figure, despite not having ankles.  Between the two releases, this does a lot to add that variety to your Bespin shelf.  Perhaps Hasbro will one day feel the need to release another Ugnaught, and if so, they should go for yet another headscupt/outfit variant.  Perhaps even Yoxgit.  There’s an unsettling open space in the Sail Barge waiting for him.  This gets a 7/10.
