Nien Nunb, Ten Nunb, Eleventy Nunb. They’re all individuals, and they deserve respect. If you think all Nunbs look the same, you really need to take a look in the mirror, and make that change. In the meantime, one of the more confusing aspects of ROTJ is what is just about canon about Nien Nunb. He’s a starfighter pilot, and was wearing a flight suit during the Home One briefing. Either just before or just after the briefing, Lando Calrissian hand-picked the top notch pilot to be his co-pilot in the Falcon during the assault on the Second Death Star. The next time we see Nien, he is wearing a red jumpsuit with a black vest, and soft helmet as he sits inside the Falcon cockpit during the battle. Therefore, it would seem to make sense that he must have changed his clothes. I can almost believe that he simply removed the chest box, hoses, and harness, and put on a spiffy vest over the red flight suit. In both this figure and the VC106 version, he’s even wearing the same spats, although they are different colors. I’m willing to chalk this up to Hasbro being inconsistent, as you’d have to be in explaining away the enormous difference in heights of the two figures. You can see all of this in the Sullustan comparison above.
So if you believe that Nien changed outfits for his Falcon mission, then you’d have to believe that immediately after the battle, he changed back into his B-wing flight suit, because that is what he is wearing when we see him again when he’s niubniubbing during the celebration on Endor. So, did the Falcon dock back at Home One prior to heading down to meet the strike team on the moon, giving Nien enough time to switch outfits and fly himself down in a B-Wing along with his squadron? Or did he feel that the flight suit was more appropriate attire for the feast? Maybe, the vest wasn’t his at all. Maybe Lando lent it to him while on the Falcon, having pulled it from the closet just like he did when he was wearing Han’s clothes at the end of ESB. Once the battle was over, maybe he awkwardly asked for it back. It’s all a little strange.
Nevertheless, here’s Nien Nunb in his B-Wing pilot suit. The figure is more or less a repaint of the Ten Nunb figure (don’t get me started) from the earlier Legacy Evolutions Rebel Pilots 3-pack. A couple of the hose ends are glued in place on this figure, when they weren’t before, but otherwise it’s basically the same. It’s a good figure. Standards super-articulation allowed for good posability. My sample had an annoying lean to it, but it didn’t have a problem standing up or being posed. The helmet was a bit hard to get on and off, and it fit a little off-center. He has a good grip on the blaster, including the floating trigger finger, but he has no holster, so don’t lose that thing! I like the sculpt, but like I mentioned before, if this is Nien Nunb, he’s freakishly tall compared to the vested version in TVC.
It’s a beloved character (who has so far survived the events of the films!), in a pilot’s suit, from the OT. Not much to dislike here. It’s not the most exciting figure, but it is necessary to complete your Home One briefing and/or your Endor Celebration displays. It is a definitive version of Nien Nunb in his B-Wing flight suit. It’s nothin spectacular, but it gets the job done solidly, and therefore it receives a standard score of 7 for an SA, collector-grade figure.

Nien Nunb (B-Wing Pilot) contains the right leg for the astromech R3-M3, which could be seen rolling down a corridor of the Death Star as Obi-Wan was preparing himself to face Darth Vader. Source: A New Hope.
Verdict: No Action
This figure an be had on eBay for low to moderate prices. Not much would be necessary to improve this figure, given the minimal screen time and action shots. There’s no reason for Hasbro to revisit this figure, but it is a nice one.
Verdict Guide:
Re-sculpt = The figure is not definitive, and a new version should be developed.
Re-issue = This version is definitive (or close enough), and shows sufficient secondary market demand to warrant a straight repack.
No Action = This release does not require new attention.
