One quick story about the Kenner figure.  When I was a kid, I had a stormtrooper in my collection.  Then I got one as a present somewhere along the way.  I was pissed because I had one already. I wanted to return it to get a new figure.  But my dad asked me, “Was there only one stromtrooper in the movie?  If you have more than one, you can have more figures to battle with.”  This was brilliant advice, and shaped my adult collecting habits many decades later.  I’m sure he’d be proud if I ever bothered telling him this.  But why bother?

Take a look at the images.  It’s nice fairly close repro of the Kenner figure.  It’s bright white, and it stands assuredly.  However, this has one major problem. It can barely hold the blaster in either hand.  It was a precarious balancing act just to get the pictures taken before the figure dropped the weapon.  How is this possible?  It’s pretty much the “You had one job, Retro Stormtrooper guy!”  Well, he had two. He needed to stand upright, and I guess he does that.

We pretty much covered our feelings about this Retro line in yesterday’s Chewbacca review, so we won’t beat that dead horse.  But basically, if you’ve had a hunger to own replicas of figures with styling from 1978, this is for you.  If you’re a carded collector and don’t want to shell out a ton of cash for the real thing, these make nice substitutes.  If you don’t fall into either category, then these figures are probably not for you.
