Well, this is it. The big man himself. I had a Darth Vader Kenner figure when I was a kid. I even have one now that I got on Ebay which is on a terrible card. I got it for nostalgia’s sake a few years ago. So why do I need this one? I don’t.
At least Vader stands up easily, although he does have a slight lean that I couldn’t fix. The lightsaber works as you would think, so that’s better than not being able to hold a blaster. His cape is nice and vinyley.
You’ve lived through all six of our Retro figure revues, so as a reward for your perseverance, you get a look at all 6 figures together. They’re a cute bunch, even though it took several tries to take their photo because getting them all to hold their weapons was a real trick. I almost gave up on Han and had it at is feet, which apparently is where the figure prefers it, but he did manage to balance it long enough to snap the group photo.
Are there more of these on the way? Is Hasbro looking to complete the first 12? Who knows. Are these selling well? Who knows. If they are, good for Hasbro and for those that love this line. If not, I hope Hasbro has the ability to pull the plug quickly. They’re not bad in the package, but I wouldn’t recommend taking them out unless you want to go old school and superglue the guns into the figures’ hands.
