At the end of Rebels, there is an epilogue where Sabine is pondering the Spectres’ mural and Ahsoka, dressed in white and looking rather Gandalf-y, arrives in her T6 before the two going up to search for Ezra.  This scene is recreated pretty faithfully in episode 2 of Ahsoka.  The key difference in the two takes is that in live action, Ahsoka is wearing her regular gray outfit as first seen in The Mandalorian, and which she wears through the first four and a half episodes of Ahsoka.  It isn’t until her journey with Anakin through the World Between Worlds that she dons the white outfit for the first time.  It would appear this is some kind of retcon, although theories abound about the true meaning of this change revolving around it being planned, and not actually a retcon.  Time will tell.

For reference, I found this comparison of the two versions.

As for the figure, there certainly have been more exciting releases, but no doubt there would be much complaining if Hasbro didn’t come through as soon as it did.  I am surprised that it is not a straight repaint.  Hasbro put some efforts into updating some key pieces of the figure - and some that probably didn’t need updating.  The biggest changes to the sculpt are the forearms and lower legs/feet. These parts are significantly different, and if Hasbro went the route of the straight repack, it would definitely be a problem for collectors.  Another part that was changed is the “crown” Ahsoka wears on her forehead.  It appears that this is not actually a separate piece from the face, so it seems that technically this has a new face sculpt.  If that is the case, my old eyes cannot really see a discernible difference in the faces (aside from the Photoreal application), but the crown is most definitely a different sculpt with new detail.  This is something that probably could have been addressed with some paint, but Hasbro went the extra mile here.

The part that they changed that doesn’t seem worthwhile to me is the belt/skirt piece.  It is almost the same on both, but the new one has a rope/belt that hangs down in front.  In the original figure, this belt is sculpted onto a soft rubber “codpiece”, which is absent on the new figure.  I’m not really sure why this effort/change was made.  It’s arguable which one looks better, I suppose, but I don’t know if the juice was worth the squeeze here.  The one thing that annoys me is that they didn’t bother sculpting peg holes (or hooks) for lightsaber hilts, nor did they include unlit hilts.  This was the worst aspect of an otherwise amazing figure in VC222/297.  If they were going to put in the tooling bucks to redo the skirt, I think they should have taken the opportunity to correct this omission.

The paint applications are rather nice, and are done so in such a way to add some differences to the outfit in lieu of some sculpting changes.  Overall, it’s a beautiful figure, with all the detail and articulation from the original.

The other thing that will get collectors upset is the lack of a white shawl.  It bothers me as well, but since the gray shawl was reserved for the original figure’s near-simultaneous release as a deluxe figure, it’s probably not reasonable for us to expect that to have changed here.  While I’m not a huge fan of an $8 upcharge to get a couple of accessories added to a repacked figure I already have, I suspect that would be the only way we’d get a proper Ahsoka the White figure.  If that were the case, it would be nice to include the staff as a nod to the Rebels appearance.  And maybe that starmap globe thing.  And another Loth-cat.  And a Grogu.  And some Clone Trooper blasters.

I’ll give the figure a 9.  It’s on the same level as the original, as a meaningful and well-executed retool/repaint.
