The final figure in The Saga Collection basic line was an all new figure of a long awaited OT cantina alien another repaint.

Just like Darth Vader’s astromech, R4-K5, which we reviewed yesterday, the character of R4-M6 was just barely canon, although it did manage to make it on screen during the Tartakovskly Clone Wars, at the Battle of Coruscant.  Mace Windu takes to the skies in his purple strafighter, and the dome of his astromech can be seen briefly in one scene, although it goes unnamed.  Windu’s starfighter is disabled and he jumps out of the cockpit, leaving the starfighter to be destroyed, along with poor R4-M6 on board.  Ah, we hardly knew ye.

Also like R4-K5, this droid is a repaint of the R4-G9 ROTS mold.  Lots of people still like it, and it’s pretty good.  The dome swivels to retract the leg, and that’s about it.  It does it well, and that’s all you can really ask.  It has a simple purple body, but it does have a metallic wash, giving it a slightly worn look - something that was lacking from Vader’s droid.

The figure works well in concert with Mace Windu stuff, such as his starfighter and his clones.  Even for things that were just off screen, Hasbro knew how to fill out a scene.  You’ve got multiple Mace Windus (including one in clone armor, and also several different purple-colored specialized clones, his starfighter, and droid.  He’s got his own military unit (the 187th), which is something I don’t believe was ever really on screen.

Nice job, Pre-2012 Hasbro.  Good times. 6/10 for the figure, 10/10 for completing the scene - even if it wasn’t really a scene.
