Lushros Dofine was the captain of the Invisible Hand, Grievous’s flagship.  He was the cousin of that stunted slime, Daultay Dofine, who was the captain of the Droid Control Ship in The Phantom Menace.  Lushros had earned the respect of General Grievous while they served together, while Daultay earned the ire Darth Sidious.  Both, however, were killed in battle as their ships were destroyed.  Daultay went down with his ship when Little Ani blowed it up, while Lushros managed to escape in a pod as the Invisible Hand went down, but his pod was destroyed by laser fire off screen shortly thereafter.  He had one of the sillier lines in Revenge of the Sith, “Magnetize!  Magnetize!”

While Lushros is easily identifiable since he sits in the captain’s chair on the bridge of the Invisible hand, there seem to be a bunch of other Neimoidian crew members that are similarly dressed.  When the skirmish between Anakin/Obi-Wan and Grievous/droids breaks out, it seems at first that Lushros is unfazed by the lightsabers swinging around him.  He continues to calmly hit the control panel in the midst of all the close-quarters mayhem.  But moments later, Lushros and the other Neimoidians flee rather abruptly and head for the escape pods. It’s kind of humorous, as there seemed to be some odd editing choices.  Anyway, you could possibly get a few of these figures, and have them populate the bridge.  For all intents and purposes, we have a complete “Scene It” on the Invisible Hand bridge, as we have all the main players.

This is the first and only figure of Lushros Dofine.  It’s a nice looking figure, with a lot of detail sculpted into the robes.  The head sculpt is well done, and includes a non-removable mitre-like hat.  The paint applications are simple, but effective, and seem true to the character on screen.  The articulation is pretty terrible.  At first you might think this is fine, since all he does is stand there.  But guess what…he actually not only sits in his command chair, but he also runs from the fighting.  This figure can accomplish neither of those things.  So as a salt-shaker figure, he kind of misses the mark.  And this is driven home now that we have Daultay Dofine, which is an excellent super-articulated figure with terrific use of soft goods and removable hat.

Like the Firespeeder Pilot we reviewed yesterday, Lushros is a pilot without a ship. It’s certainly understandable in this case, as there’s no way this flagship could be made into a toy.  I have a Micro-Machines (or whatever the Hasbro version is called) Invisible Hand, which can be seen in the background of this photo from the Firespeeder Pilot, but obviously it’s useless as a compliment to this figure.  Fortunately, for the figure’s rating, he earns some bonus points for the control panel accessory, which works well as a little environmental piece.  For extra kicks, he comes with a small data pad, which he can grip tightly in his hand.

The figure is pretty terrible in a “5POA is not OK” kind of way (he’s actually 7POA), but it’s also pretty neat in a “backgrounder that we’re lucky to have” kind of way.  As an “action” figure, it’s awful.  But as a compliment to the Neimoidian lineup and as some background fodder for your Separatist forces, he’s cool and I’m glad we have him.  The accessory helps Lushros Dofine achieve a rather generous score of 6/10.
