$19.99.  $19.99!  OK, I’m just saying.  Sure these figures aren’t very good by 2019 standards, but back in 2008, they were…pretty good.  five decent figures which included the best Vader at the time, a pair of the best stormtroopers at the time, and a pair solid Wookiee variants make for a good set, especially at $4 per figure.  It’s kind of amazing, actually.  This is the 4th 5-pack of figures based on The Force Unleashed.  Adding up the cost of those 5-packs, offered during different line looks, would total $120.  That’s an average of $6 per figure.  Not too shabby.

Darth Vader

This is a repack of the VOTC Darth Vader.  In 2004, that figure was pretty cool.  In 2008 when this set came out, it was still decent, but was starting to show its age.  By 2019, it’s just trash.  The figure has pretty awful swivel elbows, and it lacks ankle articulation of any kind.  The cape material is very flimsy.  Vader’s handsfree sculpted very wide open.  The right hand is just barely able to hold the lightsaber, and only if you very carefully position the hilt in a certain way.  A THWG (two handed weapon grip) is impossible.  The figure does have a ball jointed neck, which is pretty neat, but other than that, there’s really nothing here.  This Darth Vader displays fairly well, but everything else about it will make you angry.  Oh, and don’t think we didn’t notice that this is actually an ESB/ROTJ Vader.  It really should be an Episode IV Vader.  For that, you’d want to use VC93.  Forget this figure, and get TBS #06, at least until Hasbro gives us an ultimate ESB/ROTJ dueling Vader.

Stormtrooper [2 figures]

HATE.

This is the VOTC stormtrooper, although technically, it’s a repaint of the 2006 Shadow Stormtrooper, as noted by the 2005 date stamp on the back of the legs (a detail I learned from our friends at JediTempleArchives.) But nerd obsessiveness aside, it’s the VOTC mold.  After reviewing this base figure approximately 178 times, and about 156 of those times during the past week of our The Force Unleashed retrospective, I can safely say at this point that the figure is a hateful hunk of plastic.  It was very long overdue for a proper modern update for years, but we finally got it in 2019 with VC140.  It’s honestly not a bad stormtrooper if you want to decorate your shelf displays with troops at attention, standing around, or as corpses.  But this is definitely lacking in the “action figure” department for reasons we’ve stated ad nauseam.

Wookiee Warrior [Dark fur]

This is a 2005 sculpt that dates back to the ROTS preview figures.  It’s huge and has a bunch of swivel articulation (minus ankles).  You can get a few battle poses out of it, but obviously ball joints would be far superior.  This figure base has been used several times to accommodate different paint schemes and accessory load outs to help add a bunch of variants to your Wookiee army.  Included is a bowcaster with a terrible firing feature that the figure can wield via a decent THWG.  The fur is painted a slightly darker brown than its mate in the set.  It’s a fun figure, but Hasbro has done better Wookiees, and could improve upon this one if they wanted to.  No urgency, however.

Wookiee Warrior [Light fur]

This figure is identical to the one mentioned above, save for having a slightly lighter fur color.
