2-1B, according to Wookieepedia, is the general model number given to this version of medical droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton.  In Revenge of the Sith, here were two 2-1B surgical droids present when Palpatine sought to keep Anakin alive as Darth Vader after his defeat on Mustafar.  There was also a 2-1B droid in The Empire Strikes Back on Hoth, who treated Luke after the Wampa attack, and he again treated Luke after he lost his hand to Vader on Bespin.  This same droid (known as Too-Onebee in Legends) was also aboard the Mon Cal flaghship Home One in Return of the Jedi.  The droids are essentially the same, although they were different characters.  One difference seems to be that the 2-1B that treated Anakin on Coruscant had a syringe for a left hand, while the 2-1B that treated Luke had a claw for a left hand.  Personally, I am fine using this figure in a display from either trilogy, but as the packaging states, this is meant to be the droid in ROTS.

This figure is far superior to the POTF2 2-1B.  It’s much smaller, but intended to be more properly scaled.  The sculpt is outstanding.  The droid’s head is spot on.  The body has a lot of detail carved into it.  There is a decent amount of articulation, but Hasbro would likely be able to coax a few more points of articulation into a more modern version of the figure, including wrists.  But otherwise, it’s very good.  The figure is painted a couple of different metallic silvers.  There are also a few points of color throughout.  There abdomen is well sculpted in a translucent plastic.  There are various hoses sculpted around the body and limbs that give a nice amount of depth.

There are no accessories included with the figure.  It would have been nice if some medical instruments were included.  Even better, a switch out claw hand so that you could avoid the controversy and make a proper figure from both trilogies.  But it looks great, as I said, in either setting.  It’s a nice updated to a favorite OT backgrounder, if you choose to look at it that way.  Or, it’s a nice debut of a PT backgrounder.  Not the greatest action figure of all time, but it definitely does the job.
