It’s Saturday, and I’m not talking to you people again. Here’s a review.
This may very well be one of the best ROTS figures. We’re about halfway through, so there’s still time to be surpassed. As we’ve noted, the Jedi seem to have gotten a little extra love in the line. Almost all of them (at least the ones that aren’t Anakin or Obi-Wan) were close to top of the line for 2005, and manage to almost hold their own today.
Aayla Secura is another example of this. The sculpt is quite good. It’s a diminutive figure, but has excellent balance. The face sculpt is among the best, and the paint applications all over the figure look pretty solid.
The main draw here is the articulation. Aayla has a ball jointed head, shoulders, knees - AND ankles AND torso. Having all of these together was almost unheard of at the time. While it’s obviously not nearly as possible as a figure in 2025, it’s surprisingly good when viewed next to the TVC figure.
The only problem is the arms. While the figure does have ball jointed shoulders and swivel wrists, it’s the elbows that prevent it from being included in the pantheon of great figures in the history of the line. Even angled cut elbows would have been better. Instead, what we get is one flat plane bicep, and both arms being sculpted with elbows in a permanent 90 degree angle. Sooo very close. It doesn’t ruin the figure, but it merely brushes with greatness, instead of being great itself.
Aayla comes with a hilt, removable blade (booo!) and a jungle base.
6/10. One of the best ROTS had to offer.
