Bail Organa had a couple of key scenes in ROTS, so even though “he just stands there”, it’s cool that he’s gotten a few different figures over the years.  While it’s low on the priority list, I’d love to see some new ones as well, to represent one or two of the looks he’s had in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor or Rogue One.  I’m a big fan of Jimmy Smits, and it was disappointing he couldn’t schedule time to do Bail’s part for Season 2 of Andor, but I was happy with Benjamin Bratt’s take on the role.  (For the record, I’ve only seen arcs 1-3 so far, I haven’t had time to watch the final arc yet).  He brought a certain level of gravity to the character that was particularly fitting for the mood surrounding Mon Monthma’s big moment.

For ROTS, Bail wore this particular outfit for most of his appearances towards the end of the film, mostly when he’s traveling on board the Tantive III.  TLC [Blue] brought us his first look when he was part of the greeting party following Palpatine’s rescue from the Invisible Hand.  He had at least 3 other outfits that I was able to note during the film, but don’t exist as figures.

The figure isn’t great.  The headsculpt bears little resemblance to Jimmy Smits.  The articulation isn’t bad, but is mostly rendered useless by the hard plastic cape (which is removable), and the lack of ankles.  I tried to get the figure into a walking/shooting pose as seen in picture 13, and while I got it, it was a nightmare.  The body proportions seem off, and he’s got giant hands straight out of the Evermore video.

Look at the size of that thing!

The included cape is very restricting to the articulation, but looks decent.  There is a holster with a blaster (even though Alderaan is peaceful and has no weapons).  The blaster doesn’t fit particularly well in his right hand, and has no chance in his left, but it does fit snugly in the holster.

Also included is an environmental base.  It’s a repaint of the same ones that come with many figures, including Palpatine reviewed earlier today.  It is intended to be the floor of the Tantive III.  My figure has a definite lean to it, and the lack of ankle articulation makes it pretty much impossible to do anything to legs in order to compensate for this.

Overall, it’s nice to have, but isn’t one that was good even at the time, and has continued to age poorly.  An update would be nice in different times, but it’s not urgent.  4/10.

The figure was repainted a couple of times and included a soft goods cape, along with baby Leia as an accessory.  It was released as an exclusive that was part of the TSC line.  It had the TSC packaging style but maintained the ROTS fiery color scheme, and was available along with its “twin”, Obi-Wan and Baby Luke.  It was then repainted again for release in a comic pack during the TAC line.
