I don’t have any specific memories of the Kenner Han Solo. I have no idea if I had the big head or small head version. I certainly wouldn’t have cared (or even known) about such things at the time. But in a general sense, I do recall liking that Han’s right arm was bent at a 90 degree angle, so you could kind of make it look like he was drawing his weapon like a cool guy. I wonder if it ever dawned on Kenner designers at the the time that a working holster would have been a great idea.
Again, the figure looks mighty similar to its Kenner inspiration. This particular figure stands up straight and solidly, while a couple of the others seem to have some difficulty. However, while it succeeds in one half of its functional requirements, it fails completely at the other half. Han Solo is essentially unable to hold his blaster. While the Stormtrooper and Leia figures had some difficulty achieving this, it was at least possible. As you can see by the photos, the only way I was able to take the photos was to balance the blaster on Han’s right hand. It’s obviously ridiculous, and would totally ruin the figure. I guess that while the Kenner originals had variations in head size, we can call this one “Small Hand Han.” As I have said before in the other Retro reviews, I believe these figures are better left in the package. Taking them out just seems to ruin whatever nostalgic joy they were intended to bring.
