So once again, and just for the sake of working towards completion of our galleries, we bring you another installment of “Terrible Sets Consisting of Terrible Figures That Never Should Have Resurfaced,” or as we know it around here, TSCOTFTNSHR.  For today’s episode, we bring you the Celebrate the Saga The First Order 5-pack (Best Buy Exclusive).  That’s right folks, it’s a 5POA review.  You’re one click away from going to any other website on the planet.  Go ahead.  No one would blame you.

BB-9E / Mouse Droid

BB-9E was only available as part of the 2-pack that included Rose in FO disguise and (another) BB-8.  Originally thought to be BB-8’s nemesis, the droid really didn’t do a whole lot.  And that’s great, because neither does the figure.  It’s barely more than an accessory, but the value of this “5th” figure is apparently propped up with the inclusion of a mouse droid.  At least that little guy has made appearances in TVC, which gives it some street cred.

General Hux

Here’s one of those characters that definitely deserved representation in TVC.  Sadly, we got two versions in 5POA but zero in the super-articulated line.  This is the TLJ version.  As far as 5POA goes, it’s not a terrible figure.  Hasbro tried to give it a little upgrade with Photo Real technology.  Sometimes I look at it and I see a better version of Domhnall Gleeson, sometimes it looks more like Queen Amidala with Geisha face paint.  If you’re a hardcore Hux fan, it may be worth a look, but more than likely you’ll be passing.

Captain Phasma

Hasbro has released this figure no less than 58 times.  If there was any collector good will left towards Captain Phasma, it was blown when she was re-released in TVC without any meaningful update, such as the damaged helmet with exposed eye, or even just the silver pike weapon she wielded in TLJ.  This is just another figure you don’t need.

First Order Trooper

This trooper was released in the Solo 5POA line, and was pretty hard to find, unless a bunch were dumped at your local discount chain, where I found mine.  It’s not a bad looking figure, but if you’re reading this, you probably already are familiar with the lack of enthusiasm we have for trooper figures that can’t troop because they have no elbows, wrists, ankles, or knees.  That makes for a pretty bad soldier, unless you’re Laurel and Hardy.

Flame Trooper

This one was also a bit tricky to find when first released as an online exclusive (for some reason).  But by now, most people picked up one or two.  At this point, it’s superfluous.  It’s also a terrible action figure, although it does admittedly look cool standing there.  Hasbro pre-posed the arms so it can properly perform a two-handed weapon grip on the flamethrower.  Now compare this to the recent Mandalorian Flamethrower trooper, and you can instantly see why it’s terrible, if you didn’t know already.

Set

Overall the set is pretty lame, but somehow, I’m willing to bet Best Buy wasn’t upset over getting it as an exclusive.  These sets seemed to seem fairly well, although many collectors were seeking a few of the figure variants that gave us new characters.  None of those variants are in this set, so it’s likely an easy pass.

We now return to our regularly scheduled non-5POA programming.  Do you know where your children are?
