First of all, we hope everyone had a great holiday. Shake off the rust, and let’s get back to the important stuff: discussing small plastic men (and women).
Second, while we wait for the next TVC drop - which may be sooner than we thought based on reports of the Qimir wave appearing on shelves already - we’ll continue bringing you random reviews of figures and toys as we work to fill out our galleries. It’s the improbable dream of ours to have all the relevant 3.75” figures documented, and we sure do have a long way to go.
So today, we welcome in 2026 with a pair of comic figures that have nothing to do with ushering in a new year: Baron Soontir Fel and Ysanne Isard.
Based on skimming Wookieepedia, Fel was a lifelong Imperial, who had an up and down career. Isard was a ruthless officer who attempted to seduce Fel for reasons. He said there was no way. She played it off as him passing a loyalty test, and rewarded him with a chance to participate in a battle that would destroy the Rebel Alliance, but secretly, she made him her enemy. Fel ended up marrying Wedge’s sister (by coincidence), and ended up joining the Rebellion and Rogue Squadron for a bit. He was recaptured by the Isard, and turned over to Thrawn. Fel re-started his imperial career at that point. Lots of other stuff happened, and I’m probably missing things, but I think that’s the gist.
While Baron Soontir Fel made it into the new canon when he had is own card in a miniatures game, although his story barely registers on Wookieepedia aside from the fact that he exists. Isard, meanwhile, remains in Legends only.
Fel was a decent figure for the day, with good contemporary articulation, and a decent sculpt and paint job. He had most of the top level articulation points for the day. It’s a kit bash of pre-existing figures along with a new head and repainted accessories. There is a removable officer cap, a removable X-Wing helmet, and a blaster. While he holds the blaster a bit loosely, the helmet and cap both fit rather nicely, with the cap having a better fit than modern versions.
But as is the case with most figures from this era (2006-2010), the joints are bulbous, particularly the knees, elbows, and shoulders, making the silhouette a bit disappointing. The lower tunic is a pliable plastic, but not pliable enough to allow much movement of the hips - which are, of course, of the swivel variety. The lack of ball jointed hips, ankles and wrists limit the posability.
Interesting, Fel apparently has something like Axe Woves-level fan red, as this was his second figure. In the TAC line a couple of years earlier, there was another Baron Soontir Fel in a comic pack (along with a Derek “Hobbie” Klivian figure). That one was a bit more comic-y, with a bunch of armor and removable parts.
This is Ysanne “The Ysalamiri” Isards’s only figure. It makes use of a previously released comic figure, which is Deena Shan (packed with Luke in disguise). This is a simple repaint but with a new head. It’s most interesting because it’s a female imperial officer, and I believe this was the third, following Deena Shan and Juno Eclipse.
It’s a bit more well-constructed than the Fel figure, with much better proportions without the bulbous joints. It still suffers the same restrictions on posability, but it does what it can given its timing. The headsculpt, specifically the hair, is quite unique to this character. In the comics, Isard was born with a one red and one blue eye, and Hasbro dutifully included this detail, which is pretty neat. She comes with a blaster as her only accessory, and she grips it well.
As with most of the comic packs, it’s a neat set, which gives you figures that you either love because you know the characters from the EU or can give you some additional diorama filler. Both figures can work as “nameless” Imperial officers, if you can look past the racing stripes down Fel’s arm or Isard’s red uniform. If not, well then, you probably have no interest in either of these figures.
