For some reason, I always assumed that Wam Lufba wasn’t in Return of the Jedi at all. I knew the puppet existed, and that it obviously became the model for Joh Yowza in the special edition, but I hoped that maybe someone decided the design was too silly to be included. I was wrong. Wam can definitely be seen in the Palace popping up to Jabba’s left during his struggle with Oola. It’s quick and blurry, but his head fingers are distinguishible. It’s possible that Yuzzum could be ret-conned into Joh Yowza, but if we want to keep him limited to the Special Edition where he belongs, then it has to be Wam.
Hasbro did do a figure of Joh Yowza back in the POTF2-era Max Rebo Band two-packs. That figure is oversized, under-articulated, and too cartoony. It could be argued that a second shot at Joh is a more critical need than Wam, but I think many fans are happier pretending that the “Jedi Rocks” sequence was just a joke that wasn’t meant to be included in the final film. Also, Wam’s got a nice gun and some sweet puffy boots. They look wicked comfortable. I don’t know that anyone would put Wam at the top of their wants lists, but aliens > humans, and it would give collectors a chance to replace that awful Joh Yowza figure.
