Do you know how close we are to completing the prisoner skiff with modern definitive versions?  We are two characters away.  One of them is Vedain, the red Nikto pilot of the prisoner skiff.  The fact that the our prisoner skiffs have no diver warrants a very high priority for this figure.  Aside from the fact Vedain holds a prominent role on the skiff, he also gets is a dust up with Lando during the battle.  This figure seems to cross off a litany of action figure priority items for Hasbro.  He’s an alien.  He’s the pilot of a vehicle.  He’s part of an action sequence.  Yet for some reason, he’s never been made in the action figure line ever (not just the modern line). 

In addition to all the items above that argue for Vedain’s inclusion in the action figure line, he seems to look vaguely different from the other red Nikto characters.  It could be environmental lighting, but the complexion seems to have a slight orange tint to it.  Also, call me crazy, but Vedain almost seems older.  It may be the fact that as a backgrounder, the costume makers didn’t make the mask as precisely as the Nikto who would be featured in a close up. It may be the fact that because he doesn’t get a clear frame to himself that I think that.  In either case, it could be an excuse for Hasbro to make a slightly different Nikto head sculpt adding a little variety to the species in our action figure line-up.
