To say that Tian Chyler is a boring character is an understatement. Tian was added to the 1997 Special Edition of The Empire Strikes Back in order to answer the important question, “Was anybody listening when Lando ordered the city to be evacuated?” The Special Edition changes to ESB were minor and are generally seen as acceptable to even the most stringent Star Wars puritan, adding a little flavor to Cloud City to make it more like a city and less like Lando’s private hotel.
Bespin isn’t the most fashion-forward place in the galaxy, but even by their low standards, Tian is barely even wearing a costume. It’s perfectly believable that the extra they filmed dresses like that every day. Her vest is reminiscent of George Costanza’s late fiancé Susan Ross. One must wonder if Willrow Hood would come around the corner and vomit on it, leaving George to pay the dry cleaning bill. That bit of 90’s nostalgia really isn’t enough to justify an action figure. Unless they put it out in a two-pack with Debnoli.
