This is Yotts Oren, right? Nope. Whoever is in charge of naming things Star Wars long after they have needed a name, once named this character Yotts Orren. Now it has been decided that Yotts Orren is the green Nikto guard on the second skiff. This is just great since it should be impossible to get this figure nominated for a Fans’ Choice figure since he will be nominated under two distinct names and there is no guarantee which character Hasbro will make. Anyway, they have decided that this character is the one who is and has always been named Klaatu.
So why must we get a update to this figure? Well one, it has a vintage analogue. This figure once bore the longest parenthetical reference on a Star Wars card having been named Klaatu (In Skiff Guard Outfit). This is because Wooof was once identified as Klaatu as well. Klaatu is now Wooof, Yotts Orren is now Klaatu and the unidentified green Nikto guard is now Yotts Orren. Got it? You may roll your eyes at the suggestion of having a vintage analogue alone warrants such a high priority. Well, it’s not the only reason.
Scenes like cantina and Jabba’s palace are a treasure trove of interesting characters. Some of the characters are deep backgrounders that you can only spot when you pause the movie. Others you can remember since the first time you saw the movie. Klaatu counts in the second category. He’s the first alien Luke engages on the deck of the Sail Barge. As far as aliens at the Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon, the only alien that stands out more than Klaatu on the initial viewing is Weequay (Queequeg). Sure this figure has already been made in the modern line, but it was made in the POTF2 era, which is horrible, and furthermore it was in a cinema scene, which were the worst of the worst. This is a 10 on our figure priority.
