Elyhek Rue sat in front of Luke Skywalker during the Yavin briefing.  That is pretty much the extent of his contribution to the movie.  He’s mostly known for his distinctly bad haircut.  Elyhek did not participate in the following battle, probably because he was unable to find a suitable helmet to cover that mess.  Or maybe he wasn’t a pilot at all.  Maybe Dodonna rounded up a bunch of technicians and security guards and put them in pilot uniforms in order to impress Princess Leia.  That seems like standard practice for royal visits.

Over the years, people have actually asked for a figure of Elyhek Rue.  Not a lot, but some.  That shows the depth of the demand for Rebel Pilots despite the fact that they are essentially repacks.  Hasbro finally tapped into this easy money with some of the Rebel Pilot packs a few years ago.  Revisiting that concept is probably the only reason this figure should ever be made.
