Nichos Panib is one of the schlubs standing over to the left of the screen during Leia’s briefing. Though his back is to the camera, his face can be seen as Derlin gives the scatter command. The most notable thing about this guy is that he’s wearing Red Leader Garven Dreis’ helmet. A bit ostentatious of him if you ask me.

Official sources say that Panib flew as part of Green Squadron, which apparently either flew X-Wing escorts for the transports, or flew snowspeeders but weren’t cool enough for Rogue Squadron. We know that Panib falls into the latter category because he (or his helmet anyway) can be seen as the snowspeeders are loaded up for battle. This guy’s prospects as an action figure don’t seem great. A better use of the Red Leader helmet would be to revisit Red Leader, since that Scramble on Yavin battlepack currently has a secondary market value just below that stamp with the upside down airplane.
