Hobbie is one of the most prominent pilots in the film. He questions Leia about the wisdom of sending two fighters to escort a transport past a Star Destroyer. There is also an image of him helmeted and strapped into a Snowspeeder cockpit, but I don’t believe it made the final cut of the film. Reportedly he originally had an onscreen death crashing his Snowspeeder into Commander Veers’ AT-AT, but that scene was never finished.

Hey, we already got this guy, right? We did. But that figure, included in a comic pack with Baron Fel, was not sourced from ESB. It portrayed Hobbie in an X-wing flightsuit instead of the puffy Snowspeeder suit that appears on screen. The balaclava was retained so that nobody had to guess what his hair looked like. That figure was also based on the horrendously outdated “Dutch Vander” sculpt which plagued our collection for many years. Hasbro did a very nice Snowspeeder pilot Wedge back in the Black Series, and that sculpt could likely be reused with some modifications to the chest box. Hobbie’s helmet looks like the same deco as Gold Leader’s from Yavin.
