While the Expanded Universe books, video games, comics and scrimshaw have been declared non-canon, the 1980s Star Wars role playing game is about to become canonical.  Star Wars Rebels will reportedly use material from Star Wars:  The Role Playing Game published by West End Games.

It looks an awful lot like the Original Trilogy, but I won’t be fooled.  I’ve seen the trailers.  It’s more Jem and the Holograms meet Star Wars.

All the interviews from the Rebels production team credit Ralph McQuarrie concept art for the design inspiration with the concept Stormtrooper being front and center.  But our friends at Jedi Temple Archives ask whether or not Joe Johnston deserves some of that credit.  They provide some concept art that has me giddy for the Rebels vehicle line.  Plus they make references to Marcia Lucas’ immense contribution to our beloved movies which has gone largely uncredited, so you know they’re wickid smaht.

Every good Star Wars property needs a brutish sidekick who can rip people’s arms out of the socket.  This is another reason why the PT stinks.  The sidekick was Jar Jar.

USA Today has revealed the upcoming Karan figure in advance of Toy Fair.  Continuing Hasbro’s trend of copying Mattel and their hugely successfully minimally articulated Green Lantern and Superman figures, the figure sports 5 points of articulation.
