In the opening shot, Kylo overlooks a hangar presumably of the First Order Dreadnaught. Snoke is providing voice over talking about a powerful Force adept. This is probably trailer misdirection to get the audience to think he's talking about Kylo, but he's likely talking about Rey. All thumbnails are clickable for the full sized image.
There are regular sized AT-AT's mixed in with the massive All Terrain MegaCaliber Six walkers.
Kylo appears to be leading a squad of First Order "Snowtroopers". The surface is scarred and looks possibly volcanic. Could TLJ be the third Star Wars movie to visit Mustafar?
Kylo reaches for his cross guard saber hilt with Praetorian Guards standing in the background. The Snoke voiceover continues talking about raw untamed power and "beyond that...".
The "beyond that" line continues as the screen fades to black. The full line is "When I found you, I saw raw untamed power, and beyond that, something truly special." As the line concludes the trailer immediately cuts to Rey igniting her saber which indicates Snoke was discussing Rey the entire time. Rey seems apprehensive while handling the weapon.
Picking up from the end of The Force Awakens, we see Luke accepting Anakin's saber with his cybernetic hand. There is clearly a hole in the hand form where Luke was shot by Taym Dren-garen on the deck of Jabba's Sail Barge.
Luke appears shocked by Rey's power as the boulder fractures underneath them.
Following up on that shot, Luke tells someone that he had only seen raw strength like that once before and it didn't scare him enough then, but it does now.
We see Luke's denuded cybernetic hand emerge from the burning timbers of what is presumed to be the first Jedi Temple which was destroyed at the hands of Kylo Ren. This editing is meant to make the viewer assume that earlier "raw strength" Luke was warning about is Kylo's, but this could be a case of trailer misdirection. Could Luke be calling back to the time when he was overconfident going up against Emperor Palpatine and he will not underestimate Snoke's abilities?
Dovetailing with the "Forceback" scene from The Force Awakens, we see Luke and R2 watch as the temple burns.
Klyo destroys his helmet. Two interesting things about this. It explains why most of the toys for The Last Jedi feature an "unmasked" Kylo Ren. Second, this could be symbolic of Klyo reclaiming his humanity and turning back toward the light.
General Organa wears a face that has been familiar to the Force sensitive characters throughout the Saga. It recalls the time Yoda sensed the events of Order 66 and Obi-Wan sensed the destruction of Alderaan. It also calls back to when Leia sensed Luke's peril on Cloud City.
Once again, we see a clearly conflicted Kylo. The way the trailer is edited, we're meant to think he's conflicted about killing his mother, but could this show Kylo turning on Snoke?
In what is starting to become a Star Wars mainstay, we see the Millennium Falcon being chased through a thing by TIE Fighters. The cave appears to be lined with red crystals.
This Porg mimics Chewie's plaintive wail in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. But is he mimicking or mocking? If you hate the Porgs for being too cute, you have no soul.
If you have "Empire Strikes Back" remake anxiety, you might want to look away. Ships that appear very similar to the Rebel Troop Transport are shown as one of them is destroyed.
Here we see Poe's modified X-Wing fighter. It is fitted with a massive "afterburner" style engine. The plumbing of the device on the exterior of the hull appears makeshift.
Mandatory trailer shot of maximum coolness. Here we see Phasma and Finn squaring off with Finn's aggressive visage reflected in Phasma's chromiated dome.
A squadron of Resistance Heavy Bombers are making an attack run on the First Order's devastating siege weapon, the Dreadnaught. One of the bombers bites the dust.
Luke warns someone that "this" is not going to go the way they think. Again, the editing would make the viewer think he's talking to Rey, but upon closer inspection, this appears to be the rainswept scene from The Force Awakens "Forceback" where the Knights of Ren attack.
Everything is bigger in the Sequel Trilogy including turtlenecks.
Rey is seen diving into a body of water.
The editing makes us believe she emerges inside a cave to find Luke Skywalker. Could this be Rey's trial where she has to face her fear similar to Luke in the dark side cave on Dagobah? Is Rey's biggest fear that Luke turns to the dark side?
This appears to be the same hangar from the opening shot of the trailer. Take it all in. It's visual candy. It's like a "Where's Waldo" of Imperial/First Order military equipment.
Here is our clearest shot of Snoke to date where he's urging someone to fulfill their destiny. It is me, or does Snoke look slightly less gnarly in this shot?
As the "destiny" line concludes, we immediately cut to a scene of an anguished Rey being held by Snoke in a Force Freeze.
And now we get to the most blatant case of trailer misdirection. A pensive Rey asks for someone to show her her place in "all this". Note that the background appears to be a cave on Ach-To.
We immediately cut to a shot of Kylo Ren, but note this is a completely different environment with burning embers falling the background. This shot does not coincide with the previous shot of Rey. The fiery background might lead you to think this is from the scene of the burning temple, but notice Kylo's scar. This scene postdates the battle at the end of The Force Awakens.
Finally, the trailer concludes with Kylo reaching out a hand to someone, but to whom? Dunt dunt duuuuh.
