In a press release published by MarketWired, Lucasfilm announced new and renewed partnerships with six corporate giants across varies industries to join the Star Wars global marketing initiative: Christian Louboutin, General Mills, Nissan, Royal Philips, Verizon, and VIZIO.
From Disney:
Our promotional partners have come up with some very exciting, imaginative campaigns to support The Last Jedi, and we can't wait to share them with fans.
From Lucasfilm:
This film will be blazing new ground in the Star Wars saga, and we feel our partners have designed some truly compelling experiences to match.
And from MarketWired:
With their specific, custom-designed campaigns and innovative programs, the six internationally respected global brands complement the overall marketing campaign for the latest episode in the Star Wars Skywalker saga.
Luxury designer shoes, food, autos, health, communications, and electronics are the industries noted here.
Specific product tie-ins were not mentioned, as the press release only alludes to the general marketing campaign itself. It could mean that tie ins with these companies are limited to advertising cross-overs and sponsorships. I have a hard time imagining a Star Wars inspired Louboutin shoe, but anything is possible. We know that General Mills has had numerous product tie-ins in the past. Nissan famously introduced the exclusive Rogue One edition of their Rogue SUV.
