Hasbro had recently announced a new product line called Micro Force. The line appears to essentially be comprised of the figures from the short-lived Fighter Pod line, minus the rolling pods.
We were sent 5 blind bags, which contain 2 characters each from Series 1. The Series checklist has 12 unique characters in the series. Series 2 was already announced. In the 5 bags we were given, two of them had identical contents (R2 and Wicket together), while there was also a second Fett and Chewie mixed in the remaining bags. Out of the 10 possible figures in 5 bags, we got 6 different characters and 4 duplicates.
The characters themselves are tiny representations of their on-screen counterparts. You can see the scale as compared to a 5POA 3.75" scale figure in the gallery. The Micro Force characters are a squishy rubbery material, almost NERF-like in feel. They have large peg holes on their feet, a leftover from their Fighter Pod lineage.
I happen to have one of those Fighter Pod figures (part of my world-renowned and epically massive 501st focus collection), so I was able to do a quick comparison shot. As you can see in the gallery, they do indeed appear to be the same product.
These are one of those random lines that nobody asked for. The MSRP is $2.99, but if they were more like $1, they might be a neat thing you find at the check out line and grab a pack or two just for the heck of it. I can't imagine collecting these on purpose, but, just like the 6" line, it's a good diversion from the One True Scale [So say we all] for a character or two that you might like, such as the 501st.
Thank you to Litzky PR for providing this sample product!
