The Cantina Hits 7,000 Backers!

Just a few days ago, I thought an ambitious goal for the end of Friday would be 7,000 backers. I have never been happier to be wrong as I am right now as we hit that total over two full days early. Now I think that:


It's no longer a fight to merely get the Cantina backed. Now it's time to see how many tiers we can unlock. If you're on the FOMO fence, you might as well hop off and back right now because this is happening. Remember that the last day of Star Wars HasLab campaigns has always exceeded the backer totals of the first day. That even includes the Rancor. As we've mentioned several times, the Cantina's early trajectory most closely matches that of the Marvel Giant Man campaign. Giant Man's final day was 1.97 times that of its first day. The Cantina pulled in 3,040 backers on day 1. If we apply the same ratio, that would mean 5,988 backers on the last day for a total of 12,988 plus however many backers we pick up between now and Monday. If we use the Ghost's ratio of 1.53, that total would equal 11,620.

But as we've also mentioned there is no comp for the trajectory of the middle of the Cantina's campaign. It's breaking previously established patterns for a number of reasons to include the shortened campaign. I could see it deviating from the final day surge in both directions. Because the base figures in this set are almost guaranteed to be instant grails, the final day frenzy could exceed that of Giant Man. Because of the cost and the fact that play sets will always face more headwinds than a vehicle (an article for the campaign post mortem), I could see the final day frenzy being less than that of the Ghost. Difficult to see the future is.

Regardless, the backing we get over the next four days is absolutely critical. I want to give a profanity laced motivation speech at this point, but as this is a family friendly site, it will have to be edited for television.
