We have pistols.  Star Wars has blasters.  We have cars.  Star Wars has land speeders.  We have hackers.  Star Wars has slicers.  “Slicer” just sounds cooler and less nefarious.  The Thrawn Trilogy revolves around the “gray” of the galaxy more so than any of the films.  It’s teeming with pre-redemption Han Solo’s. 

Like Solo, Ghent’s journey in the Thrawn Trilogy goes from petty criminal to hero.  Beginning as a computer slicer in the service of arch-smuggler Talon Karrde and ending as member of the New Republic’s encryption team.  He’s central to the events of the New Republic’s ultimate victory and deserving of his very own action figure.
