Screenrant.com Is reporting that Lucasfilm will not have a major presence at SDCC.
Lucasfilm, responding to a question from something called the Unofficial SDCC Blog, stated, “Our presence at SDCC 2017 will be focused on our booth on the convention floor, so there will be no press events or interview opportunities this year.” It's not clear why Star Wars is having such a limited presence, but perhaps it is because of Disney's own D23 Expo just one week earlier in Anaheim. It would make sense that Disney will pull out all the stops at D23, leaving nothing of value to be revealed at SDCC.
There has been speculation that the next trailer for The Last Jedi will drop at D23, so we might expect some big news out of Anaheim. Meanwhile, maybe Ron Howard is too busy conducting his repeal and replace of Han Solo for any meaningful news to come out of either event.
In any case, if you're a Star Wars fan headed to SDCC, you're probably going to be disappoint.
