Notes
*This vehicle is from the Empire Strikes Back, but Hasbro decided to package almost everything that was not a movie-based basic figure in the blue Clone Wars “Shadow of the Dark Side” style packaging.

I think this is another awesome starfighter-sized vehicle by Hasbro.
First off, it’s scaled down - it’s smaller than previous releases. It’s SMF’d, if you will. This is actually great, because it is more in scale with the AT-AT, particularly the upcoming BAT-AT. Previous versions seemed like the AT-AT needed to step on it 4 or 5 times to be able to damage it enough, but I think this version can get stomped by the BAT-AT in a single, more movie-accurate, step.
A great feature which hasbro has been doing lately (like the new AT-ST) is to include two sets of guns. One bulky set fires projectiles for the kiddies to play with, and the other is a movie accurate set that looks good for the adults to display. This way, both kids and grownups can be happy! (Except that there’s extra parts that you have to be careful not to lose.)
This comes with a canopy that opens and reveals a cockpit with 2 seats, to fit Luke, and the new Dack Ralter figure, or any pilot/gunner combo. There is a single landing gear that folds up or down, allowing the ship to sit nicely on the ground. There are two rudders/brakes that lift up, just like the movie, on the rear part of the ship. One of the cannon “bases” is removeable, as is the plate underneath, allowing you to sort of customize the vehicle, or create some kind of battle damage.
The firing main cannons shoot large projectiles in the usual way. They’re not particularly strong, but I’m not looking to maim anyone, so that’s fine. The mini gun has a firing harpoon, or can also be switched out with a smaller more screen accurate version. The harpoon has a string with a doohickey/stopper on the end which can be stowed away in a small compartment in the bottom of the ship. It would have been nice if Hasbro could make a crank of sorts, so that instead of having to manually coil/wrap the harpoon string, you could just wind it up. Also, the harpoon projectile tends to get slowed/stuck because the string doesn’t let out fast enough to keep up, sometimes. It’s a great looking ship, with nice paint and details. It does come with a set of stickers for the cockpit interior, which I could totally do without.
So the fact that you can switch out the firing guns is great, especially since they don’t fire all that well. I like the smaller size, and the lower pricepoint vs. previous releases of the snowspeeder. Overall this is a pretty versatile and fun vehicle that also looks great on display.
