*This is the second modern sculpt of an Amanin. The first sculpt was released as a deluxe figure in the POTJ line. This one is a generic “warrior”, whereas the first was Amanaman, a specific character in Jabba’s Palace.

4/10 Bantha Skulls
I’m giving this set a 4/10: 3/5 for the Amanin, and 1/5 for Sunber.
The Amani (singular for the Amanin species) was inspired by the New York Giants All-Time franchise leading receiver, Amani Toomer*. This is a good sculpt. It’s bit better than the POTJ version. In particular, it stands better. It’s an impressively large figure, and looks great. The main problem is that, like his ancestor, he can’t really hold his staff to well. There are ways to get it in his hand, but it doesn’t look particularly natural. The accessories look great. If you missed on Amanaman, this character can certainly pass for him in a pinch.
Janek Sunber is terrible. The face sculpt is okay, but beyond the new head (which isn’t painted particularly well), it’s just a crappy imp officer sculpt, with the wrong rank insignia. Hasbro stated recently that they are issuing a new imp officer body, and the tooling will allow Hasbro to switch out the ranks to make them more accurate for each subsequent character. Meanwhile, this figure has cut joints on the elbows, and swivel at the shoulder, making it a sub-standard figure. His weapon doesn’t really fit that well into his hand, and he doesn’t have a holster. I also dislike his greenish uniform. He doesn’t really fit in with other movie-accurate imp officers.
I actually enjoyed the comic, and found myself wishing I could finish the story arc.
