Notes
*This build a droid figure has parts that come with four figures from Wave 1 of The Legacy Collection, and 4 repacked “Greatest Hits” figures, that also shipped with Wave 1:

Left Leg - Han Solo
Left Leg - Kashyyyk Trooper
Right Leg - Luke Skywalker
Right Leg - Commander Gree
Head/Middle Foot - Darth Vader (The Force Unleashed)
Head/Middle Foot - Chewbacca
Body - Leektar & Nippet
Body - Imperial Evo Trooper

*Many parts from both the astromech and protocol “build-a-droids” are interchangeable so you can design your own droid.
*The astromech body even has additional peg holes at the bottom for greater customizability.
*This droid is probably meant to be R4-I9, which was a dark blue astromech stationed on the Second Death Star.  The Hasbro figure of R4-I9 is black, making this figure more accurate to that character.
*There is no reference information about R4-D6, which would seem to indiciate it is a Hasbro fabrication.

I really enjoy the Build-a-Droid parts.  I think the fit together nicely, and look about identical to a basic carded figure.  The astromech feet have wheels, the third leg is removeable, and the head turns.  The painting and detailing is very nice.  Basically, if you “collect-them-all”, you’ll get a bunch of free droids out of the deal.  Good stuff.

I like the look of this figure, but it is interesting as it seems this is almost a correction for a previous Hasbro goof.  R4-D6 doesn’t seem to have a backstory, indicating it may have been made up by the Hasbro team.  However, the previously produced R4-I9, has been proven to be incorrectly painted black.  The movie prop was a dark blue, like this droid.  Also, it appears that the prop was used twice in the original trilogy - once at the Yavin Temple in ANH, and once on the Death Star, in ROTJ.

I guess, with that info, I’m going to keep the R4-I9 in my Death Star diorama, and add this R4-D6 to my Yavin diorama.  Works for me!

If you collect only certain basic figures, or if there is a particular droid you wanted on a basic card, this gimmick may frustrate you.  You’ll either have a bunch of parts you don’t want, or, on the other extreme, you’ll be forced to buy a figure you don’t want just to get the part you do want.  Looks like there’ll be a lot of trades going on!
