It would take a team of psychologists to get to the bottom of my fixation with 1985 Star Wars. Fortunately, I’m a pop psychologist.
I know this is a subject 90% of you know very well, but it’s still fun to reminisce over the crazy things that happened in the history of the line. These literally happened.
We have a guest contributor today. Reader James L. submitted an essay on subject near and dear to my heart: the vintage Kenner Hammerhead figure.
Do you say “at at” or “a-t-a-t”? It’s been a matter of debate for years, but it turns out Kenner and C-3PO had set the precedent all along.
I loved the Droid Factory as a kid, but I can’t imaging it having a place in the modern Vintage Collection, unless…
The release of the Droids cartoon series on Disney+ gives me an excuse to talk about the esoterica of uproduced vintage Kenner items. It’s one of my favorite subjects.
You know that old story. Guy wanders into a comic book store and happens upon some holy grail collectibles. Well I don’t! It never happens to me. Until last night.
Star Wars and its associated toy lines are inextricable. They form a symbiont and synergistic circle. Neither would have reached their respective heights without the other. Amazingly, it took a uniquely intuitive visionary to make it happen.
We have received a press release form Museu do Caramulo located in Portugal, which features a temporary exhibition entitled “The Power of the Force: Toys and Posters from Star Wars (1977-85)”, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Star Wars saga. The exhibition is based on one of the best vintage Star Wars collections on the planet. Hit the jump for the details which include the full press release and a cool video of the exhibit.
I honestly don’t know if the asking price is a good value or not. When a collection includes high grade samples of both the vintage Kenner Yak Face and Blue Snaggletooth, I almost don’t care. Click through to check out this amazing colleciton being offered on Ebay. Aside from Droid and Ewok figures, this looks to be complete.
Currently, Netflix and Amazon have toy documentaries available to stream, which are, in my opinion, must watch. Hit the jump for the deatils.
Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives have shared what they learned from the Hasbro team at Celebration Orlando regarding what vehicles would look like in the Vintage Collection if they return. While the news isn’t exactly rosy, now is the time to make your voice heard if you feel strongly about this segment of the line. Hasbro, the 3.75” scale exists because of vehicles. It’s two sides of the same coin.
I don’t have much in the way of Vintage Star Wars figure, nor do I know much about all the different versions of them out there so threads like this I really enjoy. Forum member, Sithman, has posted some of his collection of Vintage Star Wars variant figures.
Click on through to check out some of his figures.
It’s clear from the chatter in our forums that the Imperial Troop Transport is the darling of this year’s San Diego Comic Con in our community. With the renewed interest in this classic vehicle, I wanted to spotlight that the excellent documentary Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys covers the development of the original vintage Kenner vehicle with creator Tom Troy including the first prototype. Click through for a glimpse.
